About

Research in the Wieman group focuses on characterizing the thinking of skilled practitioners in science, engineering, and medicine, as well as developing methods for measuring and teaching this expert thinking. Primary research projects include an HHMI-funded project studying expert problem-solving in terms of decisions being made, studies of how to teach complex problem-solving skills, studies of what factors impact student performance in introductory STEM courses, and studies of how to teach more effectively and inclusively.
